Holiday cheer inevitably means a great abundance of cocktails – tasty, tempting and for most of us a hazard. How often during the Holidays have you said to yourself “Just a little more, I can’t resist”? Probably, in the back of your mind you are thinking “Oh, it’s ok, New Year, New Me… I will go on a diet then.” Studies have shown that 1 in 5 Americans is 10% overweight, in most cases the consequences of giving into that pressure and drinking one too many cocktails every night. But let’s be realistic, it is the Holidays and most of us will end up having a couple of cocktails here and there. However, if you must drink, try these Healthy With Nedi options next time you reach for a cocktail and don’t make it a daily habit. Remember, this is a treat!
Vodka with Bai
This is one of my go-tos! It’s a tasty, refreshing and low-calorie cocktail. Bai is naturally sweetened, full of antioxidants and contains only 5 calories. Each sip of this healthier cocktail will take you to a dreamy place. Simply add your favorite flavored Bai to a vodka on the rocks and enjoy!
Vodka Rocks
My boyfriend calls this “The Nedi drink”. It is a low-calorie, low-sugar drink that won’t leave you with a pounding headache the next day. Add a splash of water or seltzer to 2 oz of vodka, add 2-3 slices of lime and voila! Your healthy cocktail is made. Bonus: you can find these ingredients at almost any party or restaurant.
Healthy With Nedi Lychee Martini
Inspired by the lychee martinis at Nobu and Zuma, this cocktail has become a favorite amongst my girlfriends. Ask the waiter for a vodka martini and get the lychee juice on the side! This way you can control how much of the juice (sugar) you will have. Garnish with a fresh piece of lychee.
Spicy Margarita
Traditional margaritas usually contain a ton of sugar. For a flavorful, low-sugar option, ask the bartender to pour your favorite tequila on the rock, then add a few slices of chili, and lime. If you need a little extra sweetness then add a tiny splash of passion fruit juice.
Skinny Sangria
For a healthier version of this spanish staple, skip the simple syrup and simply mix white wine and vodka with your favorite fruits, cinnamon sticks and perhaps a bit of honey.
Hot Toddy
Hot Toddys are a great option on a chilly, winter day or if you are recovering from a cold. A Hot Toddy is a warm beverage that consists of warm cider infused with tea, a shot of bourbon, ginger and honey, all you need for a warming boost.
Boozy Skinny Hot Chocolate
This is a great drink to make for a small gathering or during a night in with your sweetheart. Warm up almond milk, add a high quality cocoa powder, a dash of cinnamon, a drop of stevia and a shot of amaretto. You’ll want to cozy up by the fireplace all night long.
I just love all your suggestions with how to drink properly without all the extra calories! Love your blog thank you for keeping us healthy like nedi!
