When I need some downtime or have a long trip ahead of me, I love to dive into a thriller novel. This genre in particular lends itself to a long session of page turning excitement. Sometimes I sit down and read the whole book in one sitting, especially if I’m on a long flight. I’m always on the search for new, exciting books, so I thought I’d put a list of the thrillers I like the most together for you all. Tell me about your favorites in the comments below!
Healthy with Nedi’s Favorite Thriller Reading List
Big Little Lies – Most of you have probably already seen the show, but if you haven’t I suggest reading this gem first! It touches on serious topics like murder and domestic abuse, but still maintains a touch of humor. It is a smart and witty story about the real lives of children, teens, friends, husbands, wives, second wives, and exes. It was so good, I did not want it to end!
Gone Without A Trace – This is about a woman who returns home from work to discover her partner and his possessions have vanished without a trace. Taking every item belonging to him and all the memories they shared together, along with all links to him on social media, as if he never existed. She begins to search for him, while trying to understand why he would leave their “happy” relationship without a word. I was hooked from the very beginning of the book – it plays with all of your expectations, and keeps you on your toes till the very end! I really recommend this one if you like a good psychological thriller.
The Good Girl – Mia is kidnapped by a seemingly safe fellow who she meets one night at a bar and goes home with for what she thinks will be a one night stand. What follows is a cleverly written roller coaster ride that will keep you turning the pages quickly. I recommend this for anyone who loves a suspenseful tale with a twisting love story. Fans of Gone Girl will love this book.
All The Missing Girls – The main character tries to figure out what happened years ago to her best friend and now to her neighbor who have both disappeared. Were they kidnapped or killed, and are the two missing girls cases related? She comes to realize that the secrets kept by the town are far more sinister than she had ever imagined. The book is written backwards so be prepared for a unique reading experience, but other than that I could not put it down. It’s one of those books that gets you completely hooked and keeps you thinking, how could it get any better!? With each new chapter, a new twist unfolded and it kept me reading until the very end.
The Girl On The Train – This book is story about a young woman with a drinking problem who loses her job and who pines over her ex-husband. Sounds sort of sad, but you literally will not believe how this turns out. I know most of you have probably read this one or have seen the movie but if you haven’t, please do. It is a book you simply won’t be able to put down.
Into the Water – The author of bestseller The Girl on the Train weaves together four haunting stories about a town’s riverbank that is ‘known for getting rid of troublesome women.’ Just like The Girl on the Train, this novel has so many twists and discoveries that it will keep you on your toes until the very end.
The Luckiest Girl Alive – The author reveals the main character TifAni’s story through a number of flash-backs, in which she describes the party that almost undid her, the friends who betrayed her, and the “incident” that forever defined her as both a victim and a villain. TifAni is pretty and stylish New Yorker who is a writer at a fashion magazine and engaged to a dreamy, charming and rich Mr. Perfect. As the story unfolds, she realizes she’s not living out her dream life and it is not too late to change that.
