Frequently, I am asked, “What’s in your kitchen?” and “What equipment do you use?” Relying upon my experience with many different kitchen tools in all parts of the world, I will devote this section of the blog to sharing my knowledge with you.
Undoubtedly, my two top kitchen devices are (1) a food processor and (2) a blender. I use them every single day, while working and when simply making something for my family or myself. These important pieces of equipment are essential to creating a healthy diet and, as a result, are used in most of my recipes. In order to appreciate the crucial role played by each in the kitchen, it is important to understand the difference between a blender and a processor. A processor has a larger blade, making it easier to chop products like nuts, dates, and lettuce leafs. In addition, these machines don’t require any liquid to work properly. A blender, on the other hand, does. For this reason, you need both in your kitchen. A blender will make everything super smooth, perfect for smoothies and soups, whereas a processor will produce a rougher chop.
Here are some of my favorites. I absolutely love these top choices!
Food Processor
A great way to chop anything from onions to nuts! The processor’s bigger, longer blade allows it to chop things up instead of blending. A food processor makes using fresh, natural ingredients to produce dips, sauces, hummus and nut butters at home a breeze. Some of the brands I recommend are: Magimix 3200 XL, Breville Sous Chef, and Cuisinart.
Blender
This is one of the most critical tools to own if you want to eat the Healthy With Nedi way! I love my blender. It is easy to use and cleans quickly; I literally use mine every day. You can make soups, smoothies, purees, and cake mixes with it. A blender combines all of the ingredients, leaving you with a super smooth result. My favorite brand is a Vitamix. It is a good investment that will last you forever and is very powerful! Other great brands include Ninja Ultima Blender, Cuisinart Power Edge, KitchenAid 5, and Nutribullet.
Juicer
This is a great kitchen tool but not for everyone. Some people just don’t have the space required to keep one at home, or simply don’t juice often enough to warrant owning one. I would only recommend buying a juicer if you juice at least once a week. There are many brands to choose from. Some brands I recommend include Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Nutri Juicer Pro, Breville, and Braun J300 Spin Juicer.
Zoodle Spiralizer
This little gadget will change the way you see spaghetti; you won’t want to go back to regular pasta! This will quickly become your new favorite kitchen tool. It allows you to spirilize any vegetable into a noodle shape and get creative in the kitchen – perfect for those who are gluten free or cutting down on carbs! I use a Podermo as well as a Vegetti and both are available to purchase on Amazon.
Strainers
A large strainer is great for draining pasta and rinsing salad greens as well as vegetables. A small strainer is perfect for separating fruit juice or pulp from seeds as well as rinsing out quinoa.
Knives
Having the right set of knives can work magic in the kitchen. It is a great investment that will last for many years.
Kitchen Scissors
Keep these handy to cut small amounts of herbs, chop canned tomatoes, trim fat from meat and skin from poultry as well as make slits in bread dough.
Measuring Spoons & Cups
Sometimes a “pinch of this” and a “dash of that” does not result in the best flavor! Measuring spoons ensure that your recipes come out just right.
Grater
A double-sided grater gives you a choice of hole sizes. You can use the smaller holes for grating foods like garlic, ginger, lemon zest or chocolate and the larger holes for shredding foods like cheese or carrots.
Every chef must stock his or her kitchen with these essential pieces of equipment! I hope you found this blog helpful!
