Needless to say, Thanksgiving an important time shared with family and friends. With it, however, comes a lot of indulgence in food and drinks that may not be the best for you. Although it is completely fine to break out of your routine once in a while and enjoy special occasions, many of us may feel bloated and unlike our best selves after. With this in mind, I wanted to share some of my best tips to detox after Thanksgiving.
Infrared Sauna
A great way to sweat out excess water retention from unhealthy food is through an infrared sauna. Many gyms offer saunas, but you can also find them at most spas or specialized places such as HigherDOSE in NYC.
Cardio
Cardio is one of the best types of exercise to burn calories and sweat. I definitely recommend including cardio into your fitness routine, especially during a detox. If you are not the biggest fan, try attending classes at gyms, such as SoulCycle and Mile High Run Club, which can help make the experience much more enjoyable.
HIIT Classes
High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, is also a great way to burn a lot of calories in a quick amount of time. So if you are short for time, try to include HIIT into your fitness routine during a detox so that you can maximize calorie burn in a shorter amount of time. Classes like Switch Playground and Barry’s Bootcamp are great ways to start incorporating HIIT into your routine if you are not sure where to start!
Reset Meal Plan
3-Day Holiday Reset Plan – During the holidays, I find that taking 3 days to reset your body is an easy, effective way to feel less bloated and more energized. I’ve curated this 3-Day Holiday Reset Plan to help you follow a low calorie, low carb, low sugar and minimal alcohol diet to reset your eating after Thanksgiving. In addition to the 3 day meal plan, this guide includes a reset grocery list, tips to beat cravings, dining out tips, healthy travel snacks and much more.
Cook at Home
One of the best ways to detox after the holidays is to avoid eating out and preparing healthy meals at home instead. I have shared several recipes on my website that are not only delicious, but also healthy and easy to follow. Book A Lymphatic Massage
Lymphatic drainage is a great way to get rid of excess liquid, reduce swelling and reduce liquid retention. Although I enjoy lymphatic drainage massages all year long, they are an amazing way to help you detox after Thanksgiving. If you want to learn more, I’ve shared a post with everything you need to know about Lymphatic Drainage Massages on my website.
