Autumn Infused Water And The Benefits of Detox Water
We all know that drinking a sufficient amount of water is essential for our health but drinking the recommended eight 8 – ounce glasses a day can be difficult and boring. Detox water is a new health trend that makes drinking water a little more exciting. Detox water is water with added ingredients that boost its health benefits. You can easily make detox water by adding chopped fruits, vegetables or herbs to your water and then letting it sit for 1-12 hours before drinking. The longer your detox water sits the more flavorful it will be. Some of my favorite mixes include lemongrass, cucumber and strawberries or oranges, ginger, mint and cucumber. Detox water is said to promote weight loss and help your body rid itself of toxins. Below is a new recipe I created for the fall and specific health benefits of the ingredients used.
Autumn Infused Water
- 32 oz purified water
- 2 branches rosemary
- 1-2 cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 peach
- 1/2 apple
Pour water to a pitcher and add in the ingredients. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight in the fridge to absorb all of the flavors.
Cinnamon is loaded with antioxidants and it has anti-inflammatory properties which can be great to combat a bloated tummy. Cinnamon can also lower blood sugar levels.
Rosemary improves digestion and can enhance memory and concentration. This herb has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. Try drinking a lemon and rosemary detox water in the morning!
Peaches are loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. They also aid in digestion and can work to protect your skin. Peaches are a deliciously sweet fruit to add to your detox water.
Apples have many health benefits including lowering the risk of stroke, improving your neurological health and lowering bad cholesterol levels. Apples are also rich in antioxidants. Try combining apple and cinnamon to make a delicious fall detox water!
