Six Ways to Stay Fit on a Budget
All of the holiday parties are finally over and I know many of us got caught in a gift spending cycle. If you are on a budget, it’s always nice to get in a free workout without having to commit to a gym membership or a personal trainer! I put together a list of some great options without any cost.
The City Is Your Runway
Take advantage before we get a snowstorm, and get those legs moving! Use apps like Strava and AllTrails to customize your own routes and trails so you’ll never get bored. You can get in a breezy morning jog or skip your morning commute and walk. Either way, your body, and soul will thank you and your day will be boosted with energy!
YouTube It
At-home workouts are right at our fingertips these days. YouTube workout videos are convenient, time-saving, and absolutely free. There are thousands of videos out there, so you never have to repeat the same workout twice. Make sure you follow videos or experienced trainers; some of my favorites are Popsugar, Rebecca-Louise, Madfit, and Melissa Wood Health. Losing weight and building muscle in the comfort of your own home, is a win-win!
Community For The Win
Community classes are the trial runs of new up and coming epic trainers! In these classes, you get the same experience as you would in a regular fitness class, but without the price tag. Studios like 305 Fitness and SoulCycle often host community classes that are typically free or donation based!
Jump To It
According to Science Daily, ten minutes of jumping rope is almost equivalent to an eight mile run! Jumping rope really gets your heart rate up and daily sweat in. Believe it or not, it’s a full-body workout, targeting your arm, ab, and leg muscles. This $20 investment will take you far!
Free Boutique Studio Offers
Many of the top gyms and studios in your city provide complimentary guest passes, discount codes, and free intro classes, so you can sweat it out without the cost! Often studios offer great promotions by buying classes in bulk so you can save your dollars all year round. Some of my favorite studio “first class free” offers are: Flybarre, CorePower Yoga, AKT Fitness, and YogaWorks!
Go Local
Join fitness lovers in your area to work out together, trade tips, and motivate each other! You can simply create an account on Meetup and connect with dozens of fitness local fitness groups. From yoga clubs to marathon training teams, there’s something for everyone. Getting in shape and socializing has never been easier!
