I LOVE THANKSGIVING!!!
Almost nothing beats the joy of sharing good, healthy foods with your loved ones. Many of my clients ask how they can maintain a flat belly during this holiday and I’ve decided to share my tips with you as well! Read on to find what my top digestive remedies are and how to keep your belly tight & flat. 🙂
1. Exercise
Start your day with a spin class or light jog around the neighborhood to break a sweat. Exercising will help to maintain your blood sugar levels steady throughout the day and will release endorphins, which will boost your mood!
2. Drink Tea
Ginger-lemon and dandelion root are two of the best teas you can possibly have on Thanksgiving. Ginger-lemon soothes the stomach, while dandelion is great for relieving water retention.
3. Fresh Green Juice – alkaline & cleanse.
I recommend having all greens and avoiding fruit due to too much sugar. The perfect green juice for me is made of kale, spinach, cucumber, extra lemon and extra ginger. This won’t be sweet and that’s the whole point in order to give you extra boost of vitamins without additional sugars.
4. Digestive Enzymes
Have a digestive enzyme before your meal to help with digestion. These enzymes can take stress off the stomach, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and small intestine by breaking down difficult to digest foods. They will enhance nutritional absorption and ease acid reflux.
5. Probiotics
Probiotics are live bacteria that provide healthy gut flora and restore our health. They are essential for digestion of food, absorption of nutrients and maintain a healthy bowel movement.
6. Portion Control
Don’t overload your plate with EVERY SINGLE THING YOU SEE! From my own experience – trust me on this one lol. The more food you put on your plate, the more you will eat. Have a small salad, grab a few healthy sides, and aim for your turkey portion to be the size of a deck of cards.
