Patrick Frost is a long time friend of mine who also happened to be one of my first personal trainers. We met at his popular 12:30pm Barry’s Bootcamp class in Chelsea and instantly fell in love. Patrick’s energy is dynamic and the way he leads each one of his classes with passion is incredibly motivational. You find yourself putting in a little extra work when he’s around, and you know your booty will be sore the day after a killer butt & legs session with Patrick. A workout like this gets people talking, and he’s build up a solid A-list roster training celebrities such as supermodel Karlie Kloss, Amanda Syfred, Dylan McDermet. Already feeling motivated & inspired? Check out our interview to discover more about this super-trainer!
Meet Celebrity Trainer Patrick Frost
Tell us a little bit about yourself…
Fitness has been the game changer in my life. I’m from a military town in Georgia and grew up playing all sorts of sports. Although I had an active youth, I was completely oblivious to the endurance high I was becoming addicted to. I moved to New York City when I was 20 in hopes of pursuing some sort of modeling or acting career. My whimsical move wasn’t well thought out, considering the limited funds I saved. All of my $800 was quickly spent after renting a couch off Craigslist. I waited tables, tended bars, produced a documentary, waited more tables… and partied a lot. I had a wild first few years in the city, and eventually had a sobering epiphany of what my future should hold — FITNESS!
What inspired you to become a PT & a trainer at Barry’s?
I realized that fitness was, and had been, the only constant in my life. No matter what emotion or difficulty I was going through, I turned it into sweat; and with that, everything became manageable. At the time, serendipitously, Barry’s Bootcamp co-owner Joey Gonzalez was searching for trainers before the opening of Barry’s NYC. We shared a friend who made the connection, and I was lucky enough to get a shot. Looking back, I’m not too sure as to why he decided to give this 22-year-old with no training background a chance, but I’m glad he did. Once I found Barry’s, it became my new extended family, and my life became focused. I had direction and drive. I never wanted anything more in my life.
What is your morning routine like?
I wake up every morning at 5:40 AM, take a long hot shower to warm up my vocal cords, make a big green protein shake and run out the door to teach my morning classes.
Do you have a favorite fitness move you always do when you train?
I have fallen in love with the extended plank into up-dog. It’s a great way to activate everything.
How can someone get a booty like Miranda Kerr?
Come to my Barry’s Bootcamp class at 12:30 😉
Do you recommend a certain smoothie or ideal post-workout snack?
My personal go to after a work out is a true meal. I usually use shakes as both breakfast and a snack but I try to plan one of my biggest meals of the day after my work out.
You are so busy, how do you keep a healthy diet on the go and beat an afternoon energy crash?
I live a very balanced life. I don’t do much restriction when It comes to my eating. I aim to eat a lot of vegetables though…that is a personal goal.
You are famous for your hard rock abs, can you recommend an exercise to get rid of muffin tops & love handles? 🙂
Honestly….abs are created in the kitchen. You can’t out run a bad diet. That being said I’m a huge fan of planks and hollow holds!
What is your ambition at this stage in your career?
I feel like I’m at a bit of a crossroad….I’m honestly not sure yet. I have a few ideas…I’m gonna keep climbing.
Any tips you would like to share with the readers?
Yes, I’ve got a few. Trust your gut, fight hard for those who fight for you and never forget the ones that stood by your side from the beginning!
