My Favorite Healthy Summer Foods

By Nedi · On May 29, 2019

Summertime is around the corner and many of us are eager to get into shape. I put together a fantastic 3-Day Reset Ebook to help people avoid weight gain throughout the year. The recipes are so filling and delicious you’ll barely notice that you’re doing a reset. After the three days, you will feel more energized, less bloated and will have set the foundation of healthy eating for the days and weeks to come. Below I am sharing a few of my favorite nourishing, healthy summer recipes that are figure-friendly and some of my tips to staying fit all summer.

First, you must increase your fiber intake. Most Americans don’t consume enough fiber. Total dietary fiber intake should be 25 to 30 grams a day from food, but most adults average only about 15 grams per day. Eating more fiber is my number one recommendation for weight loss and looking and feeling your best while wearing a bikini. Fiber speeds up the metabolism, fills you up without filling you out and extracts fats and toxins out of the body. Some natural, easy and delicious foods that will add fiber to your diet include – Kelp noodles, GG crackers, GG pizzas, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, pears, broccoli, cauliflower, artichokes, okra, and asparagus.

Another way to nourish your body through the summer is by staying hydrated. Focus on drinking green juices and smoothies. Try adding anti-inflammatory ingredients to them such as aloe vera, turmeric and green tea which can help your body detox, heal and repair itself in a healthy way. Cold soups like my summer gazpacho are an ideal summer food and will cool you off on a hot day. Watermelon is another great way to keep you hydrated as it’s mostly water based and so delicious during the hot months. Click here to read more of the awesome benefits watermelon offers. Make sure to drink 3 liters of water a day, it flushes toxins from the body and supports weight loss. If you find the taste of water boring, then add ginger, lemon, cucumbers, and mint to boost the flavor.

Another tip for nourishing your body in the summer is to focus on including more plant-based foods. Try to limit heavy ingredients like processed dairy, conventional meat, and other animal products. Plant-based foods have the power to clean out your digestive tract and get you back on track with healthy eating. I even have a whole post on some of my favorite dairy-free alternatives! Try not to focus on the things that you are avoiding (this could cause a binge episode). Instead, think about the amazing array of fruits and vegetables that are available to you during the summer season. A perfect example of this is to make simple substitutions like enjoying my vegan jackfruit tacos that are served in lettuce wraps. Instead, the typical oily meat taco wrapped in a tortilla, you can eat something that is much lighter, healthier and satisfying. Smart and simple substitutions like this not only nourish your body but will help you get your slim figure back.
